A free e-learning platform about designing and implementing local content policies while advancing sustainable development in mining is now available from the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF).
The platform provides participants with a thorough understanding of the complexity of creating local content policies, expanding on the IGF Guidance for Governments: Local Content Policies.
“Our goal is to equip policy-makers with the skills to identify and apply concepts and tools to draft and implement effective local content policies in their countries,” says Isabelle Ramdoo, Senior Associate and Development Economist with IGF and creator of the e-learning course.
The free platform enables participants to explore which policy areas fall under local content, understand how to craft successful policies, assess the strengths and challenges of various available instruments, and more.
“The platform is a powerful tool to improve resource governance and optimize the benefits of mining,” explains Ramdoo.
Although the platform is geared toward IGF members and policy-makers, it is also a beneficial tool for mining companies, academics, and civil society. The IGF invites you to register for free online to complete the e-learning course.
