Isabelle Ramdoo Appointed IGF Director

January 31, 2025

Isabelle Ramdoo has been appointed as the Director of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF).

“We are pleased to welcome Isabelle Ramdoo as the new IGF Director. In her years with the Secretariat, she has demonstrated remarkable leadership, deep expertise, and built trusted relationships,” said Patricia Fuller, President and CEO of the International Institute for Sustainable Development, which has hosted the IGF Secretariat since 2015.

An economist with over 25 years of experience in trade and industrial policies, Ramdoo has extensive expertise in trade negotiations across Eastern and Southern Africa. Since 2020, she has served as IGF’s Deputy Director, leading key initiatives, notably on critical minerals and socio-economic benefits in mining.

I am honoured to lead the Secretariat at this key juncture when the global shift to low-carbon and digital technologies is driving extraordinary demand for minerals and metals hosted by many IGF member countries. Our Secretariat is uniquely positioned to support governments as they strengthen their mining laws, policies, and regulations to advance mining for sustainable development.

— Isabelle Ramdoo, Director, IGF

The IGF extends its gratitude to outgoing Director Greg Radford, who served since 2016, for his leadership and contributions to advancing responsible mining governance.
