The IGF is conducting a Mining Policy Framework (MPF) Assessment in Honduras from May 28 to June 4.
We will be meeting with government officials to discuss various environmental and social sustainable development efforts, ranging from environmental and water permits, worker health and safety, to mine closure.
An inclusive, multi-stakeholder approach is key to our consultations. This is why we will be meeting artisanal and small-scale miners to discuss their involvement in Honduras’ mining sector to ensure steps towards a more sustainable sector take into account their on the ground realities.
We will also be meeting with civil society and community representatives to discuss the implementation on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, taking into account the experiences and needs of Indigenous peoples and local communities.
