Capacity Building and Training

The IGF Secretariat provides capacity-building training and workshops to member countries upon request.

We design capacity building and training programs to improve our developing country members’ skills, knowledge, and abilities to implement and maintain good governance in mining that considers the full environmental, social, and economic context.

We work with local and regional experts to ensure programs reflect on-the-ground perspectives and realities.

The IGF held a workshop in Mexico City focused on the topics of Indigenous consultation and mine closure.
A workshop for West African countries on ESIAs and environmental and social auditing in the mining sector.
A virtual training workshop for Africa focusing on international taxation and its application to the extractives sector.
A virtual training program for Argentine government officials on integrating gender equality into mining ESIAs.
The IGF organized a workshop on artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), illicit financial flows (IFFs), and conflict.
