IGF’s 12th Annual General Meeting took place October 24-28, 2016, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The theme of the AGM was Mining and the Sustainable Development Goals.
IGF continues to grow as an institution and play a key role on the world stage. It is the only organization that brings together all major players in the mining sector to find practical solutions to the complex challenges of sustainable development. More than 80 organizations took part in the 2016 AGM, engaging with member countries and civil society.
For the 2016 AGM, the Secretariat developed an agenda focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and mining. The 17 SDGs represent the post-2015 global development agenda and embody the international consensus on development priorities, covering all aspects of life and applying to all countries. The 2016 AGM is the first opportunity for IGF members to engage in a joint dialogue on the relevance of the SDGs to the mining sector.
The IGF would like to thank UNCTAD for hosting its 2016 AGM.
