Our Forum partners this year include the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), and World Economic Forum (WEF).
Innovation and new technology in mining bring a host of opportunities and challenges. Our session will focus on skills and the future of work, as well as implications for government revenues.

Building Skills for a Sustainable Future (2–3 p.m.)
This first session will explore a number of key questions facing the industry. What do new mining technologies mean for the future of work? What types of skills will be needed, and how can mining companies, governments and others ensure locals have the necessary skills to allow mining to make its proper contribution to sustainable development?
In the first half of our event, Aaron Cosbey – Senior Associate with IGF, Aiden Davy – Chief Operating Officer with ICMM, and Jörgen Sandström – Head of Mining and Minerals with WEF, will lead conversations to tackle these pressing questions.
Technology and the Future of Government Revenues (3–4 p.m.)
When discussing new technologies in mining, we often focus on jobs, but what will the impact be on mining tax revenues? Existing fiscal regimes will need to strategize if they want to respond efficiently, but how can governments and industry work together to achieve effective results?
Howard Mann, Special Advisor – Tax Base Erosion and Profit Shifting with IGF will moderate the second half of our session. Speakers will include Lee Corrick, Senior Advisor – Transfer Pricing with OECD and Anthony Munanda, Technical Advisor – International Taxation with ATAF.
