Thomas Baunsgaard leads the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF’s) tax policy work on extractive industries. He also oversees the multi-donor trust fund on Managing Natural Resource Wealth, which supports capacity building and technical assistance by the IMF in natural resource-rich developing countries. Thomas has worked at the IMF for 20 years and was previously its resident representative in Tanzania and Malawi. Before joining the IMF, he worked as a tax policy advisor with the Internal Revenue Commission in Papua New Guinea and as a country economist in the World Bank’s West Bank and Gaza Office.
