William Davis is a senior economist working with the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI). He leads various research and capacity-building projects in the areas of resource taxation, dependency, and diversification and contributes to NRGI’s work on critical minerals and in regional programs in francophone Africa and Latin America.
Before joining NRGI, William was an engagement manager/consultant with the Economist Intelligence Unit’s public policy consulting practice for Asia, working on industrial policy, macroeconomic analysis, and climate change topics. Before that, he worked as an economist with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa for 6 years, focusing on natural resource governance and taxation, among other areas. This work included serving as part of the Secretariat to the High-Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa. He has also worked in several other roles as a public policy economist. He has over 40 publications on economic policy analysis, with many focusing on taxation and illicit financial flows.
